MARCH provides design and pre-construction expertise, construction
execution and project management services to clients in both
the public infrastructure asset management sector and the
private construction and development sector.

| MARCH is
a significant participant in the drainage sector with
an extensive track record in large diameter, deep and
complex drainage pipeline construction. The company
has an unrivalled knowledge of ground conditions in
the Canterbury region and as such is often consulted
by public sector local authorities and professional
engineering consultants in the design phase of major
drainage works in the region. The company can also offer
drainage design services to private clients. Capabilities
include sewer, stormwater & water pipelines both
by open cut and trench-less method. |

MARCH has vast experience in foundation construction
ranging from sheet piling of basements and underground
carparks to piling using driven, vibrated and bored
methods. The company has constructed the foundations
on many of Christchurch’s significant skyline
buildings including the Clarendon Towers, PriceWaterhouseCoopers
building, Forsyth Barr building, Hotel Grand Chancellor
and the Crowne Plaza to name a few. MARCH is innovative
in piling works, recently on a project with high liquefaction
potential the MARCH design team was able to replace
20-25 metre driven piles with 9 metre stone columns
and stone column with “H” piles installed
by vibration. This saved both cost and construction
schedule and so was an excellent result for the client.

MARCH has vast experience in land subdivision and
development and can offer clients a full package from
design to construction. Land development brings together
a number of the company’s core competencies
from earthworks to drainage to road construction.
The company is part of the March Group which includes
significant property development activities so the
company has a unique understanding of land development
which it brings to development clients making it a
preferred choice for clients.

Broadening the scope of foundations works MARCH offers
a range of geotechnical solutions from ground improvement
works to retaining walls and ground anchoring. Ground
improvement through dynamic compaction, vibroflotation,
CFA piling and jet grouting are possible alternatives
to traditional foundation piling. Slope stabilisation
through ground anchoring and retaining walls offers
solutions to hillside construction and retention.
Further demonstrating its innovative approach, MARCH
recently signed a sub-license for the Single
Bore Multiple Anchor (SBMA) system for the NZ
region. This technology offers significantly increased
anchor capacity and cost and schedule savings to slope
stabilisation in unstable ground conditions. MARCH
applied this technology with great success on the
recently constructed Sofite Grand Lakes development
in Queenstown which required 11 metres of vertical
face retention over a length of 100 metres and a 100
year design life of the structure. This was a design
and construct contract.

MARCH is a major provider dewatering
services, with one of the largest pumping fleets in
NZ. The company has in excess of 30 pumps ranging from
75mm to 400mm and large stocks of well-point dewatering
system components allowing it to undertake dewatering
projects from small to very large areas. The company’s
expertise in dewatering is often a vital part of its
deep drainage, underground structures and foundation
works. Environmental protection is a key consideration
in dewatering projects, particularly if there is an
existing ground contamination. MARCH has great experience
in water purifying prior to discharge and carries a
large number of silt traps and other purifying mechanisms
to ensure the environment is protected at all times.

MARCH is a nationwide specialist in
new fuel tank installations and tank upgrades. These
are specialist projects due to the often complex sites
and environmentally sensitive nature of the works. The
company provides sheet piling, dewatering and excavation
services on these sites and has completed in excess
of 100 such installations. The company is considered
the leading expert in NZ in these projects.

MARCH has workshop welding staff that
both builds and repair plant and fabricates steel components
for structural projects. Many of the structural projects
require extensive welding services and manufacturing
of steel components, for example on retaining and anchoring
projects.
